Neighborhood Assistance Program
/
Comprehensive Service Program
"Heinz Partnership"
The
Northside
Leadership
Conference
(NSLC)
recently
began
a partnership
with
Heinz
Corporation
through
the
Pennsylvania
Neighborhood
Assistance
Program
/ Comprehensive
Service
Program
(CSP).
The
CSP
Initiative
is a
10-year
partnership
yielding
a total
of two
million
dollars
for
services
in three
communities
(East
Allegheny,
Spring
Garden,
and
Troy
Hill)
in the
Northside
of Pittsburgh.
The
services
provided
include:
job
training,
education,
housing
improvements,
city
shop
development,
crime
prevention,
and
community
planning.
Now,
with
proper
planning,
we have
the
opportunity
to enhance
these
services
even
more.
The
Pennsylvania
Neighborhood
Assistance
/ Comprehensive
Service
Program
was
created
to interest
large
corporations
to invest
in their
business's
community
and
in turn
receive
a large
tax
credit.
The
business
needs
to work
with
a non-profit
organization
to receive
the
tax
credit.
There
are
currently
three
other
CSP
Programs
being
successfully
executed
in the
Pittsburgh
area.
The
Northside
Leadership
Conference
and
H.J.
Heinz
are
dedicated
to making
the
Northside
a better
place
to live,
work,
and
play.
The
CSP
Program
provides
an outstanding
opportunity
to concentrate
these
efforts
in three
communities
surrounding
the
Heinz
plant.
These
three
communities
also
hold
prominent
gateways
to the
rest
of the
Northside.
By improving
these
neighborhoods,
we can
also
improve
the
image
and
morale
of the
whole
Northside.
